At around 10 Mumba, Zimba, Morgan, Lawrence, Charles, Kafuti and I took off for the airport. My flight was supposed to leave at 13.00, but when we got there we found out that the plane was not going to land in Ndola until around 13.40. Turns out I had a 2 hour layover in Johannesburg so an hour and a half delay was going to make for and interesting transfer. When we touched down SA Airlink had an escort for me and a couple others who were in the same situation to try and let us make our connection. I literally ran 3/4 of the was across the Johannesburg airport luckily my bag was checked through to Washington Dulles so I didn't have to deal with that. I boarded about 3 minutes before scheduled departure. (sweating like a horse I might add, not a great way to start an 18 and a half hour flight) Well then we proceeded to sit at the terminal for an hour while they checked out a mechanical problem on the plane. When we finally got going it was a pretty uneventful flight. We got into Washington late because of the delay. (where I also had a 2 hour layover) This time I did have to deal with my bag. Well they've just renovated the Dulles airport and apparently all the employees haven't quite figured it out yet. When we got out of the plane they had two shuttles, one for those who were connecting to another flight (me) and one for those who were staying in DC (not me). Well about 20 of us that had connecting flights were sent to the wrong baggage claim so by the time we found out and figured out what we were supposed to do it was too late to make my Detroit connection.
So that's where I find myself now. At Dulles International Airport eating at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Good burger. Using really fast internet. Whaaaat? I've got about 3 hours until my flight leaves so yeah... maybe I'll take a nap. Ooooh or post some pictures.
